How the Recent Changes in Meta are Affecting your Business

Meta took over Facebook's title in the third quarter of the last fiscal year. The name change last year came with platform and function changes this year. Over the past few months, Meta co. has begun to add to its services and remove others. Some of these things might be minor to the bulk of their 3 Billion users, however, these changes do affect the whole of business pages that utilize Meta.

The bigger changes include job platform listings being removed. What does this mean for you? As a business owner, you can still technically post job listings, however, the listings page itself, which was a feed, will no longer be in that format on the Lite App or the website. This means you can post jobs to your business page, but they are no longer a searchable topic for people who don’t already follow your page.

This is tough for those who don’t already have a large following or engagement from qualified applicants. This change is a double-edged sword, as well, in that if someone applies to your listing, their application itself now will go to a messenger inbox along with regular messages and questions for your business. This has the potential to clutter up other messages in your inbox. This change is important to be aware of, as it could curtail finding success with your listings.

Additionally, jobs groups are being changed to public groups. Partner integrations are also being removed with these new changes. This means some apps that used to assist in cross-platforming will no longer be available. Meta is releasing in-house toolkits and applications for some, but not all, of these working programs. This can kneecap some exposure traction you may have been gaining within the previous timeframes of the existence of your account.

Understandably, these updates and the Meta rebranding come as a surprise to businesses who’ve used Facebook as a staple of their online presence. There has definitely been a change in pace to their trajectory in advertising and interaction within social media. These new structural changes can mean that you need to switch things up for how your operations are going to be moving with your online presence.

With these new changes in mind, what things can you do for your business now? First, it’s important to think about how you need to build a stronger following for your social media presence on all of your used platforms. This can help you in making sure that your posts and content within the new Meta landscape are seen by your target audience where the algorithm might leave you behind.

It’s important to think about building your company’s image and branding as not just an occasional job or service, but as a great resource that matches anyone up with what's best for them as applicants or users. A single job listing in one area doesn’t net the same traffic as a well-structured workforce narrative brand. It is vital to create as much engagement on your pages as possible, which will help you get your listings seen by significantly more people. While you might not want to entirely abandon Facebook/Meta, it might be best for your business or brand to pivot your focus elsewhere and become more assertive on your other platforms.

This can be a lot to take on suddenly for a lot of business owners, whether you’re new to the title or have been running a business for years. Think of it as an investment to leave those strategies to a marketing business so you can focus on other aspects of your business. Marketing Juice’s team is poised to do all of these things for you and tackle the new challenges that come with the Meta systems and toolkits versus the previous systems that had been used for business management on Facebook and the related platforms available.
